Feeling cheerful, smiling, flirting, longing to be outside? Those are all feelings brought on by the change in season! Scientists have conducted research which reveals that the arrival of spring brings on a positive change in our hormones.
The increased levels of sun from the extended daylight trigger a hormonal change in our bodies, reducing our production of melatonin. As a result, our moods are lifted, our energy levels increase and our desire to find a new partner is amplified!
New findings published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition, by researchers at the University of Massachusetts medical school, have also proved that activity levels rise as the days get longer. We are less likely want to eat carbohydrates and our calorie intake drops! Our sexual appetite, on the other hand, starts to grow, and we’ll feel the need to throw off all of our winter clothes and let the sunshine (and our lovers) embrace us.
So be prepared to get outside, bask in the sunshine and enjoy the effects of Spring as the tiredness drifts away and you start feeling revitalized!
