Speak, and I will tell you if you are unfaithful!
Or how the tone of our voice could reveal our infidelity.

Infidelity is a subject of study in many scientific areas. According to a recent Scottish-Canadian study, our intonation could be decisive within our love life. An explanation from Gleeden!

This recent study directed by researchers from Scotland and McMaster University in Hamilton, Canada, suggests that women with a high-pitched voice and men with deep voices are more likely to be unfaithful.

The scientists reached the following conclusion by having roughly a hundred test-subjects listen to recordings of male and female voices: in the selection process of a partner, the pitch of voice influences our perception of how likely they are to be unfaithful. The researchers indeed found that women tend to believe that the deeper a man’s voice is, the more likely he is to be unfaithful. And vice versa. Men tend to think that a woman with a higher-pitched voice is more likely to cheat on them.

Why so? Hormones seem to be the explanation. Professor David Feinberg, who participated in the study, offers as an explanation that “men with a high level of testosterone have a deeper voice, while women with higher levels of oestrogen have a sharper voice, with a higher pitch”. “Infidelity carries dear costs: emotional impact, financial costs, and the potential loss of the family unit. This would suggest that through evolutionary processes we have assimilated ways to avoid partners who could turn out to be unfaithful, as defence mechanisms”, explains Jillian O’Connor, a graduate in Psychology, Neuroscience and Behavioural Studies from McMaster University and main author of the study.

A study that leaves us speechless!
