More than 2,000 unfaithful French husbands and wives have signed up for a new social networking site ahead of its launch next month.
Gleeden.com is designed for not-so-happily married people who are looking for adventure away from their spouse.
The site launches in seven European countries at the end of November – but according to its founder more than half of the 3,800 people who have pre-registered for the service are French.
The majority of them are between 30 and 40 years old, and 60% of registrants are male.
The site’s director Teddy Truchot, said: “We are not promoting infidelity, we are just responding to people’s needs. In France every magazine discusses adultery – it has become a way of life.
“Our target market is 25 to 45 year olds who like taking risks. It will be like a community – when you’re unfaithful it is reassuring to know you’re not the only one.”
The site promises anonymity for those who sign up, and a group of moderators has been hired to spot fake accounts and people providing escort services.
